Conversations with a 2 1/2 year old

Sam is at an age where most of the things she says crack me up.  Here are just a few from recently.

I asked Sam to dust.  She came back to me a few minutes later and told me she was all done.  I asked her what she dusted.   She said "the couch, the carpet, and Alex".

I was making Sam lunch yesterday.  I started showing her my dance moves.  She looked at me and said "Mommy right now I don't need you to dance, I need you to make my sandwich."

BJ asked Sam to put on her shoes.  He told her that he would pick them out for her if she didn't get to the closet first.  BJ pulled out a pair of brown shoes, and Sam said "oh no, no, no daddy, those don't match my outfit."

Sam must have had a rough day at daycare Friday.  She told me on the way home that they were going to have ice cream that day but "it was just one of those days", so they didn't get ice cream.  I asked her what happened and she said that she was just "kissing Dorian a lot" and got put in time out.  I have a feeling there was more to that story.

Me: Sam that is not nice you need to say you are sorry
Sam: but I'm not really sorry

Me: Sam do you want a my little pony party?
Sam: no mom I want MY little pony not yours. :)

Alexis 9 Month Appointment

For record keeping purposes I'm throwing this information in here.  The baby book probably won't ever get done.

Alexis has her 9 month appointment on May 24 with a new doctor.  She was 17 pounds 15 ounces, and 27 inches long.  25th percentile in both areas.

Dance Class

Last fall, our friend Whitney mentioned that she was going to sign her daughter Lily up for beginning dance classes.  BJ and I had been looking for an opportunity to get Sam involved in a class like this, and thought it would be perfect for her to do with a friend.  Every Tuesday night from 6:00 - 6:30 Sam and Lily attended Dance class at Madison Dance Academy.  It is so sweet watching eight little 2 and 3 year old girls practicing their dance moves, and just generally interacting with each other.  Their teacher, Miss Amanda, is amazing with the girls and very patient.
This weekend was the big recital for the school.  They had so many student participating they broke the classes into three different recitals!  Sam's class was scheduled for the 3:00 show on Saturday, with rehearsal Wednesday night.  Sam has never been given the opportunity to perform in front of a large audience, so I didn't know how she would do.  Other than a little resistance to the hat she had to wear with her costume (which for the record I also would fight wearing), she did great, I was feeling a little more confident that Saturday would go okay.

My parents were in town Saturday to watch the recital.  Because of a little incident that happened that morning, Sam didn’t get a nap in before the recital.  I was very nervous that she was going to freeze, or just run off the stage crying.  She proved me wrong again.  Her entire class did such a great job.  Their teacher stood on the side of the stage and did the moves for the girls to watch, and though the girls spent most of the time watching Miss Amanda, none of them froze, or ran off the stage.  Sam was a little mesmerized by the lights and crowd, but did most of the moves.  We were so proud of her!  BJ had stopped at the store on his way in, and picked up a bouquet of flowers for her, she was so proud of the flowers and spent the rest of the night showing everyone the flowers that her daddy had given her.
We have the summer off from class, but already have her signed up for next year, and can’t wait to see how much she learns for the recital next May!
